England vs Japan

England will face Japan at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 17th November during the Quilter Internationals 2018. This will be the third of four autumn internationals to be played by England in 2018.

Japan will host the Rugby World Cup in 2019 and this fixture will be a huge test for the Cherry Blossoms.

England v Japan

Date: Saturday 17th November 2018

Venue: Twickenham Stadium, London

Kick Off: 3:00pm

Referee: Paul Williams (New Zealand)

TV Coverage: Live on Sky Sports

It will be only the second time that England and Japan have met in a rugby test match. The previous encounter came during a pool match at the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987, which England won handsomely by 60-7.

Jamie Joseph has laughed off Eddie Jones’ advice that Japan should seek divine intervention for their clash with England.

Former Japan coach Jones has warned the Brave Blossoms that England will be “absolutely” ruthless at Twickenham on Saturday, as they exorcise frustrations from last weekend’s 16-15 defeat to New Zealand.

Jones suggested Japan head to the temple to prepare to face his England side, but current Blossoms boss Joseph shrugged off the warning on Monday.

Ex-All Blacks lock Joseph admitted Japan will need some help on the weather front in order to launch their fast-paced phase play – but insisted he will not be caught in any places of worship this week.

Scotland vs Fiji

Scotland v Fiji
Venue: Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh Date: Saturday, 10 November Kick-off: 14:30 GMT
Coverage: Live on BBC One, BBC Radio Scotland the BBC Sport website and app. Live text on BBC Sport website

Stuart Hogg has been passed fit to return for Scotland against Fiji just eight weeks after ankle surgery.

The Glasgow full-back was expected to be sidelined for 10-12 weeks and miss the entire autumn Test series.

But he starts on Saturday, with Sean Maitland, Finn Russell and Greig Laidlaw, who will captain the side, also back after missing the Wales game.

Centre Huw Jones is dropped, Pete Horne starting, while Exeter lock Sam Skinner is handed his debut.

The 23-year-old, who played nine games for England’s Under-20s, qualifies for Scotland through his Scottish father.

He starts alongside Grant Gilchrist, with Jonny Gray on the bench, while Matt Fagerson is at number eight with Ryan Wilson moving to blind-side flanker and Jamie Ritchie to open-side.

Fraser Brown also comes into the side at hooker, with Stuart McInally – captain against Wales – missing out as head coach Gregor Townsend makes nine changes in all from the side beaten 21-10 in Cardiff.

A further positional switch has Alex Dunbar moving from outside to inside centre to accommodate Horne.

Wales vs Australia

Wales will face Australia at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday 10th November during the Under Armour Series 2018. This will be the second of four autumn internationals to be played by Wales in 2018. The two teams will compete for the James Bevan Trophy, which was created in 2007 to celebrate 100 years of rugby between Wales and Australia.

Wales v Australia

Date: Saturday 10th November 2018

Venue: Principality Stadium, Cardiff

Kick Off: 5:20pm

Referee: Ben O’Keeffe (New Zealand)

TV Coverage: Live on BBC Two and S4C

Wales have lost their last 13 matches against the Wallabies, most recently losing 21-29 during the 2017 autumn series. The last time Wales beat Australia was a 21-18 victory at the Millennium Stadium in 2008.

Wales and Australia have contested a total of 41 rugby test matches since their first meeting in 1908. Wales have won 10 of those matches, whilst Australia have won 30 matches. There has also been one drawn match between the two sides, which occurred at the Millennium Stadium in 2006.

England vs New Zealand

Venue: Twickenham Date: 10 November Kick-off: 15:00 GMT

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen says England’s New Zealand-born flanker Brad Shields will find it “tough” playing against his native country on Saturday.

Shields played for New Zealand Under-20s but ended his hopes of a senior cap when he opted to play for England, who he qualifies for through his parents.

“He is going to be going out facing the haka, facing a team that he has always wanted to play for,” said Hansen.

“It will tug at his heartstrings, you wouldn’t be human if it didn’t.”

Shields, who won the IRB Junior World Championships in 2011 with New Zealand’s age-grade team, said earlier this week that “there are going to be some emotions, there is no hiding from that”.

Hansen found going up against his native New Zealand “pretty raw” when he worked as Wales coach between 2002 and 2004, but backed Shields to keep his emotions in check.

“I think he’ll find it tough, but he is a quality man and a good rugby player so he will deal with it in his own way,” he added.

France vs South Africa

The experienced trio of Willie le Roux, Faf de Klerk and Franco Mostert are back in the Springbok starting team for Saturday’s Test against France at the Stade de France in Paris.

LIVE-1 LINK

The match in the French capital is South Africa’s second fixture of their year-end to the United Kingdom and France and kicks off at 22:05 (SA time).

The inclusion of Le Roux, De Klerk and Mostert – with close to 100 Test caps between them – are the only changes announced by coach Rassie Erasmus to the run-on team when he confirmed the Springbok match-23 on Thursday.

Le Roux takes over the No 15 duties from Damian Willemse while De Klerk comes in at scrumhalf to replace Ivan van Zyl, with the rest of the backline kept unchanged.

Mostert replaces Eben Etzebeth, who sustained a foot injury in last weekend’s 12-11 loss to England at Twickenham, in the only change to the pack.

With the availability of the Boks’ European-based players, Erasmus also announced three changes to the replacements. Vincent Koch (prop), Francois Louw (loose forward) and Cheslin Kolbe (utility back) are set to provide impact off the bench.
